Well even though our summer has been a right off, we can’t let it beat us. At Ryelands we have persisted in the notion of enjoying outside eating. We have, however, installed glass on to our roof beams on the balcony to enable us to do so,

and thanks to our new pendant Shezad Light, care of the Conran Shop, we can now sit outside with a warm ambient glow and enjoy the pleasure of outside eating and entertaining. Last touch will be added shortly, awaiting the arrival of three macrames, this will hopefully set the 70’s tone

This gives you an idea of the interior of Ryelands. Although you can see a distant charm it is obvious that almost everything within needs attention. This was my area, and almost from the moment I walked into this room, we call our drawing room, I could visualise how I wanted it to look. It’s funny that, I have always had this ability to be able to just close my eyes and see an image of the end result, some people have told me that this is some kind of gift, and I suppose it could be seen as though. I don’t really question it, I rely on it!

So this is the room now, it is my favourite in Ryelands. It is cosy, warm and inviting no matter what season. It has a very feminine feel, which adds to its charm without being too sickly. I have used soft greys and muted pinks as accent colours and have mixed a little contemporary art in with traditional, I love this juxtaposition between old and new.

Here we go diving into the deep – none of that piddling around in the shallow waters. I am Bronwen, and my job is Interior Styling. I would love to talk to you about a whole host of things, art, music, antiques, spiritualism blah blah blah, but from the limited research I have done on blogging, it is important to stay on point!

I love aesthetics, the way things look effect me, and when something works well it connects with me. I have always felt this way, from my early years of constantly changing my room around and when I tired of my room, I would move around my mother’s rooms, luckily she always appeared delighted. I was half expecting a telling off, but was welcomed with compliments! So this is where it started, my tireless devotion to interiors. I was never a slave to it, in any way, never had to study or learn any type of formulas that guarantee success. I don’t mean to sound blasé, but I feel it has been a gift that I inherited. Took a long time of wondering what I was really gifted at, as I truly believe we all have a ‘God given talent’, an essential tool to see us good, anyway aesthetics was mine. So, the aim of my blog is??? Actually I don’t rightly know, just felt I should get on and do it, I’m quite an instinctual creature, as maybe some of you may know, and if something feels right, I won’t question it too much. So my introduction is my own home.

My home, my passion, my expression. Bought approximately 4 years ago, it was very dilapidated, Grade 2 Listed, and needed a complete make over, but it still exuded charm and beauty in a kind of distressed way.

Blue shutters hung from old rusty hinges, Wisteria climbed abundantly over the façade and even into the rooms. The Broken pains of glass crying from neglect, my husband and I, we were hooked.
